This program displays quite large pictures : 8Mo of memory are necessary, as well
as a processor of 100Mhz or +. A 14'' monitor is
barely sufficient, because if you can reduce image size by zooming, it is to the
detriment of details. On the contrary, in zoom 200 %, using
scroll bars can be quite boring, especially for vectorial pictures, the easiest
way is to change the zoom factor. A resolution of
800x600 ( SVGA) is a minimum. A setting of 16 colours for the screen driver is
enough : pictures do not contain more.
You can speed up the launching of the program if
you accept, as you will be promted to at the first launching, to install the roads
database on disc. If you want to install the program itself on disc,
the required space is 10
Mb for the program and the images of Bordeaux up to the Boulevards (images
numbered 1 - 10). 20 Mb more will
be needed for the Suburbs.
The present beta version is designed to work with Windows
95-98 and Windows 3.x.
[
In the 2-nd case, the general roads list of Bx's + Suburbs is well loaded in memory,
but does not display completely in the Combo box,
because the 3.1x releases don't allocate enough memory to this type of object.
The search functions stay operative because they are implemented through a memory
array. On the other hand, searching via the the Combo box
implies to load only Bx's streets OR those of the Suburbs. ]
For the databases containing the roads coordinates
(and soon those of the public places), it is conceivable to put them on-line,
but it is for the moment excluded to download images of more than 500 Kb.
